The Tech Report: MasterDrive.. The New Boss?

Super Talent has a new firmware revision for the MasterDrive that doubles write speeds... if you send your MasterDrive to Super Talent, they'll do it for you. Unlike mechanical hard drives, solid-state offerings store data on flash memory chips—the same sort of silicon you'll find inside USB thumb drives, only much faster. In SSDs, multiple chips are tied together by a controller, which drive manufacturer Super Talent says is actually the biggest determinant of overall performance.

Benchmark Review Awards the MasterDrive MX the Silver Tachometer Award
Early SSD products offered very small capacity, leaving them out of reach for primary drive usage.  Super Talent solves this problem, and introduces the 60 GB FTM60GK25H. With virtually no access time delay, these nonvolatile flash memory-based drives were quick to promise a more reliable storage device with greater performance while operating at a fraction of the power level.... they have become a reality for many performance-minded power users.
